
Muscat: The ninth round of political consultations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Uzbekistan was convened in Muscat on Tuesday.
The Omani side was chaired by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, while the Uzbek side was led by Bakhromjon Aloyev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the session, the two sides reviewed existing bilateral relations and explored means of enhancing them across various domains, particularly in the political, economic, investment, commercial, scientific and cultural spheres.
Discussions also focused on supporting joint investments, activating trade exchange and pursuing their development in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
The two sides welcomed the inauguration of the direct Muscat–Tashkent air route, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues.
The session was attended by Sheikh Ahmed Hashil Al Maskari, Head of the GCC and Regional Neighbourhood Department at the Foreign Ministry, Abdusalom Khatamov, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Sultanate of Oman, along with a number of officials from both countries’ foreign ministries.
