
Al Buraimi--- The programs and initiatives implemented by the Directorate General of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Al Buraimi Governorate serve as a genuine pillar for empowering rural women economically and socially. This is achieved by transforming family activities into productive projects that contribute to generating a sustainable income for these families, in addition to enhancing food security.
Eng. Shaikha Hamad Al Kindi, Head of the Rural Development Department at the Directorate General of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Al Buraimi Governorate, stated that the number of rural women registered in productive projects in the governorate has reached approximately 90 women.
Meanwhile, the number of currently existing projects stands at three within the agricultural and livestock sectors. She pointed out that there is a plan to implement new projects across the various wilayats of the governorate during the upcoming period.
She explained that the support directed toward rural women is distributed across several main areas. These include food processing and the breeding of goats, sheep, and poultry according to modern methods, alongside the existence of projects for honey bee rearing and home farming.
She indicated that the Directorate provides a package of facilities and technical support, which includes field follow-ups and specialized training workshops in project management, packaging, and both electronic and traditional marketing. This aims to facilitate the ability to benefit from governmental and private financing programs.
Regarding marketing, she affirmed that the Directorate is keen on providing opportunities for beneficiaries to participate in national exhibitions and festivals. It also works on establishing permanent sales outlets and developing commercial brands for the products in a manner that ensures their continuity and enhances their capacity.
