Royal Navy of Oman evacuates 23 crew members from attacked oil tanker EL GAIA

Muscat: The Maritime Security Centre (MSC), in coordination with relevant Omani authorities, is monitoring the towing of the Panamanian-flagged oil tanker EL GAIA to a port in the Sultanate of Oman.

The operation follows the successful extinguishing of a fire that broke out in the vessel's engine room after it was targeted 1.3 nautical miles northeast of the Musandam Governorate. A Royal Navy of Oman vessel evacuated 23 crew members from the tanker, providing them with required medical care, while search operations remain ongoing for two crew members who are still missing.
