Oman Air and Salam Air announce new CEOs

Muscat: Oman Air has announced the appointment of Nasser Al Sharji as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 September 2026.

With more than 25 years of executive leadership, operational excellence and business transformation experience, Nasser brings extensive expertise across key sectors including aviation, logistics and oil& gas government services. He has held senior leadership positions at ASYAD Group, OQ and Nama Water Services, where he led major national projects and organisational transformation initiatives. Most recently, Nasser served as Chief Executive Officer of Transom Handling and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Oman Airports Management Company. He holds an Executive MBA and has also served as a board member and chairman of various committees across multiple sectors.

Commenting on the appointment, His Excellency Saeed Al Mawali, Chairman of Oman Air and Oman’s Minister of Transformation, Communications and Information Technology, said, “Nasser brings extensive leadership experience, a strong understanding of the aviation sector and a proven track record of leading organisations through transformation and change. We are confident that, under his leadership, Oman Air will continue to build on the significant progress achieved in recent years and further strengthen its position as Oman’s national carrier.”

His Excellency Saeed Al Mawali also expressed his appreciation to Con Korfiatis, who has served as Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer since May 2024, for his leadership during one of the most significant periods of transformation in its history. Under his leadership, the airline has made important progress towards greater financial sustainability, operational efficiency and organisational effectiveness, while continuing to strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive industry. Con will continue to support Oman Air as Advisor to the CEO, providing continuity and guidance as the airline moves forward.

Oman Air thanked Con Korfiatis for his leadership and welcomed Nasser Al Sharji to his new role, with the airline continuing its focus on delivering its transformation agenda and building a sustainable future for Oman’s national carrier.

Salam Air announces new CEO

Salam Air has also announced the appointment of Eng. Yaqoob Al Kiyumi as its new Chief Executive Officer.

The airline said, "SalamAir is pleased to announce the appointment of Eng. Yaqoob bin Saif bin Hamoud Al Kiyumi as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 October 2026.

The appointment marks a new chapter in SalamAir’s journey as the airline continues to build on its achievements and advance its strategic priorities, with a focus on sustainable growth, operational excellence, enhanced customer experience, and strengthening its role within Oman’s aviation sector.

On this occasion, the Board of Directors of SalamAir extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Adrian Hamilton-Manns for his leadership, dedication, and valuable contributions during his tenure as Chief Executive Officer.

The Board warmly welcomes Eng. Yaqoob Al Kiyumi and looks forward to working with him as he leads SalamAir into its next phase of development.
