Muscat: Jabal Akhdar received the highest rainfall in Oman during the period from July 26 until 7:00 am on July 29, recording 37mm, according to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The figures show widespread rainfall across several wilayats as weather conditions continued to bring showers to different parts of the Sultanate.
Salalah recorded the second-highest rainfall at 28mm, followed by Al Jazer with 21mm, Ibri with 19mm, and Khasab with 18mm.
Rainfall totals of 17mm were recorded in Al Rustaq, while Liwa and Shinas each received 15mm. Al Suwaiq registered 14mm, and Sohar and Ibra each recorded 13mm.
Other areas receiving notable rainfall included Musannah (11mm), Muscat (10mm), Barka (10mm), Al Mudhaibi (9mm), Seeb (9mm), Al Hamra (8mm), Sur (8mm), Izki (7mm), Adam (7mm), Haima (6mm), Ibra (6mm), Duqm (5mm) and Nizwa (5mm). The lowest recorded totals were 3mm in Wadi Bani Khalid and Sohar? (leftmost label unclear in the chart).
The ministry's rainfall data highlights the widespread distribution of precipitation across Oman, with the heaviest rainfall concentrated in the highlands of Al Jabal Al Akhdar and parts of Dhofar, contributing to seasonal water recharge and cooler weather conditions in several regions.
