Agriculture department in North Al Batinah launches projects to serve rural women

Sohar --- The Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate today launched a package of initiatives for the implementation of development projects to serve rural women. The programme took the theme “Rural Leadership: Empowerment, Production and Knowledge Transfer”.

Eng. Nasser bin Ali Al Marshoudi, Director General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate, said that the initiatives seek to empower 1,500 women through projects that contribute to entrepreneurship and sustainable development.

The ceremony saw the launch of a production line for the implementation of entrepreneurial projects. This includes an electronic guidance kit to carry out seven strategic projects for the establishment of livestock pens, laboratory testing units, marketing exhibitions and a waste recycling system.

The ceremony also included the signing of contracts for training and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between women entrepreneurs and companies of university students, with the aim of promoting innovation and knowledge transfer.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Hinai, Wali of Sohar.
