Ebola death toll in Congo rises to 600

Kinshasa: The death toll resulting from the Ebola epidemic outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to 600 cases, with 1,759 confirmed cases of infection recorded.

Statistics issued by the health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo showed the documentation of 51 new infections and 20 new deaths in the past 24 hours.

For its part, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced last Tuesday that the outbreak of the deadly Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo is expanding, while pressure continues to accelerate testing and identify effective treatment options.

There are currently no approved vaccines or treatments for the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus.
