First integrated fruit tree project implemented in Mahadha

Mahadha: The first integrated investment project specializing in fruit trees in Al Buraimi Governorate is being implemented in the Zaroub area of the Wilayat of Mahadha, with an investment value exceeding RO 171,000.

The project targets the cultivation, production and marketing of fig, lemon and mango crops. This step embodies the partnership with the private sector to harness natural and financial resources in sustainable agricultural ventures. It further aims to strengthen the food security system and enhance the investment attractiveness of the agricultural sector in support of the local economy.

Dr. Ahmed Saif Al Amri, Director General of Agricultur and Water Resources in Al Buraimi Governorate, stated that the project's completion rate has exceeded 80 percent across the cultivated areas, with high efficiency and rapid execution. He noted that planting operations commenced in March 2025, and the project reached the actual production stage in October of the same year—an indicator of the quality of planning and the adoption of modern agricultural practices.

He further indicated that the total area of the project stands at 30 feddans, which have been utilized in a well-considered manner to ensure diversity and meet the demands of the local market. The current land allocation includes approximately 6 feddans for lemon cultivation, approximately 5.5 feddans for fig cultivation and 2 feddans for mango cultivation.

He added that work is currently underway to prepare an additional area of 7 feddans, to be fully allocated as a new fig field. He affirmed that this diversity contributes to supplying the markets with fresh, high-quality products, pointing out that the continued expansion reflects the project's economic viability in doubling production and enhancing the competitiveness of local produce.
