Shura Council discusses several draft legislations

Muscat: The Shura Council discussed on Monday, in its twenty-second regular session of the third regular annual sitting of the tenth term, a draft agreement between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention and avoidance of tax evasion. The session was held under the chairmanship of Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council.

The session discussed the report of the Economic and Financial Committee on the expressed desire regarding establishing a system to link corporate tax procedures with government entitlements. It aimed to create an integrated electronic system that links corporate tax obligations with government financial entitlements, thereby contributing to accelerating procedures, enhancing tax compliance, improving the efficiency of financial collection, and raising the level of integration among government institutions.

The session included a discussion on the report of the Economic and Financial Committee regarding the expressed desire on "Economic Diplomacy: Impact, Results, and Performance Measurement Indicators."

The proceedings of the session witnessed a discussion on the report of the Services and Public Utilities Committee regarding the expressed desire on developing the system of social housing programs and subsidised housing loans. The session also included a discussion on the report of the Media, Tourism and Culture Committee regarding the expressed desire on evaluating localization policies and programs in the tourism sector.

At the conclusion of its proceedings, the Council discussed the report of the Food and Water Security Committee regarding the expressed desire on the topic of "Future Agricultural Cities: Opportunities and Challenges."
