
Manama: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the joint GCC‑Canada ministerial meeting hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in Manama today.
The Omani delegation was led by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, current president of the Ministerial Council, and attended by GCC foreign ministers, as well as Anita Anand, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretary‑General.
The ministers discussed ways to strengthen and expand cooperation across economic, scientific and cultural fields, as well as exchanging expertise and stimulating growth and innovation opportunities for the mutual benefit of both sides.
They also reviewed regional and global developments and the resulting challenges and repercussions threatening security and stability, affirming the importance of political and peaceful solutions through meaningful dialogue and negotiations aimed at containing and preventing escalation, while prioritising the supreme interests of peoples in security, stability and prosperity.
The meeting was attended by Sayyid Faisal bin Harib Al Busaidi, the Sultanate of Oman’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain and Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the GCC and Regional Neighbourhood Department at the Foreign Ministry.
