Oman Producer Price Index f3.9% in Q1 on lower energy prices

Muscat: The Producer Price Index (PPI) in the Sultanate of Oman declined by 3.9 percent during the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2025, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The decrease was mainly driven by a sharp drop in prices within the mining and quarrying sector, which fell by 11.3 percent, reflecting a decline in crude oil and natural gas prices by 11.6 percent.

Despite the overall decline, some components recorded increases. Prices of raw metal products rose by 17.8 percent, while stone and sand products saw a marginal increase of 0.5 percent.

In contrast, the manufacturing sector recorded an increase of 8.3 percent, supported by higher prices of other transportable goods, which rose by 11.3 percent. Prices of metal products, machinery and equipment increased by 6.2 percent, while food products, beverages and textiles rose by 1.8 percent.

The water production group declined by 4.3 percent during the period, while electricity production remained broadly stable with no significant change, the data showed.

The PPI measures the average change in selling prices received by domestic producers and is considered a key indicator of inflationary pressures in the production sector.
