
Minsk --- Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, met today in the city of Minsk with Yuri Gorlov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus. They also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and food security, and deliberated on investment opportunities and the exchange of expertise and modern technologies in agricultural and food production.
The meeting also touched upon the prospects of developing partnerships between institutions and companies in the two countries, contributing to the enhancement of food security and the achievement of mutual interests, while emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and the exchange of visits and expertise to support bilateral cooperation in various fields of common interest.
During the meeting, both sides praised the development and growth witnessed in the relations between the two countries, affirming their keenness to expand the scopes of economic and investment cooperation to serve the objectives of sustainable development and strengthen the partnership between the two sides.
From the Omani side, the meeting was attended by Hamoud Salim Al Towaiya, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus, Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Head of the Omani Trade Delegation and Dr. Abdullah Masoud Al Harthy, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus to the Sultanate of Oman.
On the other hand, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources visited the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation in the city of Minsk, during which he viewed the corporation's facilities, production lines, and the modern technologies used in bio-industries and the production of fodder and agricultural ingredients.
The Minister and the Omani delegation listened to a detailed briefing on the corporation's activities and its role in supporting food security and enhancing the added value of the agricultural sector.
This visit comes within the framework of enhancing joint cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus, and exploring partnership and investment opportunities as well as the exchange of expertise in agricultural fields and biotechnology, thereby contributing to supporting sustainable development efforts and reinforcing the food security system in both countries.
