
Rakhyut: The Directorate General of Environment in Dhofar Governorate held an introductory meeting today in the Wilayat of Rakhyut to present a new initiative aimed at strengthening natural resource and ecosystem management under the "Pasture Restoration Project." The effort is part of broader moves to support environmental sustainability and advance long-term development goals.
The gathering brought together the walis of Rakhyut and Dhalkut, members of both the Shura Council and the Municipal Council, as well as sheikhs (tribal leaders) and community figures from the two wilayats. An international team from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) also participated.
The meeting falls under ongoing collaboration between the Environment Authority and GGGI to improve ecosystem and natural resource management across Dhofar. The initiative seeks to develop a comprehensive roadmap aligned with sustainable development objectives and green growth strategies for the region.
Participants emphasized that coordinated institutional and community efforts are essential to achieving sustainable natural resource management, positioning Dhofar Governorate as a regional benchmark for environmental action.
