International study tests for reading literacy assessment administered in Al Buraimi

Al Buraimi: The Directorate General of Education in Al Buraimi today began administering the tests of the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS 2026) in eight schools across Al Buraimi Governorate, targeting fourth-grade students, with a total of 260 male and female participants.

This study aims to measure reading literacy and assess the reading comprehension levels of fourth-grade students according to international benchmarks, conducted every five years. The study seeks to identify strengths and weaknesses in reading, as well as to develop curricula and teaching methodologies for the Arabic language.

The study instruments include a student assessment, as well as questionnaires for administrative and teaching staff. Preparatory efforts for the administration of the PIRLS 2026 tests have been underway since the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, continuing up to the testing date.
