Advanced centre for electrical grid balance launched in Ibri

Ibri: Dema Energy on Sunday launched its flagship project in the Wilayat of Ibri, Al Dhahirah Governorate which is an advanced centre for enhancing electrical grid balance through large flexible loads, with investments exceeding OMR8 million.

The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Ali Amer Al Shithani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology.

This pilot project embodies the growing investment partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It has been jointly developed by Mara Holding (a global company) and Dema Energy, with a capacity of 15 megawatts, serving as a pioneering model for enabling modern technologies.

The project aims to leverage computing to play a pivotal role in stabilising the national electricity grid, allowing network operators to manage loads as instantly controllable resources.

The project achieves a local content rate of 43 percent and an Omanisation rate of 100 percent, creating 14 high-quality job opportunities for young Omani talent, thereby enhancing their skills in this future-oriented sector.

To ensure seamless integration with the local market, Dema Energy has structured its launch and project development in the Sultanate of Oman with the strategic support and guidance of its local partner, Al Ghalbi Group, which provided essential access and deep knowledge of the Omani business environment. 

The ceremony was attended by a number of senior Omani and Saudi officials.
