
Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of Egypt held a session of consultations on Monday.
This took place when Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister received Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The two sides reviewed the latest developments concerning the current military escalation in the region. They expressed their deep concern over this escalation and its expanding scope, agreeing on the paramount importance of halting it and working to end the war. They emphasised the need to enhance political and diplomatic solutions, and to employ reason and dialogue to spare the region from sliding into utter chaos as a result of continued escalation and the broadening of the conflict.
The two ministers renewed their rejection and condemnation of all military actions targeting Arab countries. They stressed the importance of stopping these actions immediately, maintaining the policy of good neighborliness, and consolidating the principles of regional cooperation.
Furthermore, both sides agreed on the importance of continuing their joint efforts to push for political and diplomatic solutions to preserve regional and international peace and security.
They strongly reaffirmed the necessity of respecting the Charter of the United Nations, the rules of international law, and international humanitarian law.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates expressed his country's appreciation for the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
He highly valued the mediation efforts undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman aimed at de-escalating tensions and advancing the pathways for political solutions in the region.
In turn, the Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the existing cooperation and coordination between the two countries. He praised the efforts exerted by the Egyptian side alongside the Omani side within the framework of political and diplomatic endeavors to support the pursuit of regional security and stability, and to bolster political solutions to ongoing crises.
