
Muscat: Represented by the Directorate General of Khoula Hospital, the Ministry of Health on Tuesday launched a comprehensive, year-long health campaign themed “Your Health Matters to Us”.
The campaign, which targets government and private establishments, reflects the Ministry’s efforts to consolidate the concepts of prevention of health problems, limit the spread of diseases and promote sustainable healthy lifestyles.
The campaign, which addresses employees, visitors to health establishments and members of the community, focuses on the importance of early detection of diseases and the promotion of positive health conduct.
Its programmes include lectures and the distribution of educational awareness materials and messages to different segments of society in general.
The campaign covers ways to keep pace with the most common health challenges in society. It lays emphasis on the importance of periodic check-ups, commitment to a healthy lifestyle and the detection of chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes and endocrine disorders, in addition to controlling blood sugar levels and preventing complications.
The campaign includes the implementation of field activities inside target establishments, where health checks are conducted for the early detection of some common diseases, measuring blood pressure, sugar levels and body mass index, in addition to providing direct medical consultations with a specialised medical staff.
The launch ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health.
The campaign also deals with the importance of healthy nutrition through the implementation of a programme called "Proper Nutrition for a Better Life", which highlights the risks involved in obesity and malnutrition, the interaction of food with medicine and the safe use of antibiotics.
The campaign's themes focus on awareness about physical activity, first aid for those who meet with sports injuries and health education about osteoporosis, spinal injuries and foot care among diabetic patients.
The launch of the campaign was attended by Suleiman bin Nasser Al Hajji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs, health ministry officials and employees from Khoula Hospital and Al Nahda Hospital.
