Completion rate of Musandam Culture and Innovation Centre reaches 97.5%
Khasab: Musandam Culture and Innovation Centre has achieved significant progress in its construction phases, with the current completion rate reaching approximately 97.5%
Abdullah Ahmed Al Shehhi, Assistant Head of Musandam Governor's Office, stated to Oman News Agency that the project is scheduled for handover on 31 January 2026, according to the updated timeline.
This will be followed by the official opening and operational launch of the centre, in coordination with the relevant authorities, enabling it to commence its role as a comprehensive cultural and knowledge facility serving various segments of society in Musandam Governorate.
He added that Musandam Culture and Innovation Centre will constitute a qualitative addition to the cultural landscape of the governorate. It will serve as a platform bridging heritage and modernity, and an open space for organizing events, seminars, and cultural evenings, in addition to hosting art exhibitions and an open-air theatre. This, he pointed out, will contribute to highlighting local heritage, linking it with contemporary creative production, and enhancing cultural tourism in the Wilayat of Khasab and the governorate at large.
He explained that the centre will undertake a pivotal role in supporting innovation and empowering youth and local talent.
This will be achieved by providing a stimulating environment for research, development, and technical innovation, featuring specialized laboratories and co-working spaces that help transform ideas into projects of economic value.
Additionally, it will implement specialized training programs to hone national skills and enhance the creative economy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, he further noted.
He said that the design of programs and activities at the centre will rely on an institutional integration methodology, through partnerships with several relevant entities, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Education, and Oman Sail Company. The aim is to deliver an integrated experience that meets the needs of different societal groups.
He noted that these programmes encompass cultural, educational, sporting, recreational, and economic aspects, making the centre a family, educational, and investment destination all at once.
The project is being constructed on a total area estimated at approximately 10,500 square metres, with a built-up area of 2,733 square meters. It aims to establish an integrated, multipurpose complex serving the local community in the fields of education, culture, environment, sports, tourism, and entrepreneurship.
The project includes a building dedicated to education and innovation under the Ministry of Education, and a cultural building overseen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. It also features commercial units supervised by Musandam Municipality, various water sports facilities managed by Oman Sail Company, in addition to an open-air theatre and a dedicated children's play area.
This enhances the integration of services provided and achieves the goals of sustainable community development in Musandam Governorate.
This project is among the vital initiatives that reflect the government's interest in enhancing cultural and innovative infrastructure in the governorates, supporting national capabilities, and creating an attractive environment for creativity and investment in Musandam Governorate.
