Cairo: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo organized a celebration on the occasion of World Arabic Language Day, under the patronage of Abdullah Nasser Al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League.
The ceremony, held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, was organized in partnership and cooperation with the Museum and the Friends of the Civilization Museum Association.
Organizing the event at the Civilization Museum aimed to provide a broader space for participation and maximize the cultural and cognitive benefit of the occasion. This contributes to spreading awareness about the importance of the Arabic language and its civilizational role, and enhances communication with various segments of society, particularly academic figures and youth.
The celebration was attended by a number of official and cultural figures, the Arab Ambassadors accredited to the Arab Republic of Egypt, along with a selection of academics, intellectuals, media professionals, and notable participation from university students, underscoring the interactive and awareness-raising dimension of the event.
The celebration featured a lecture delivered by Professor Dr. Abdel Hamid Madkour, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy, in which he discussed the importance of celebrating World Arabic Language Day.
Professor Dr. Said Tawfik, former Head of the Supreme Council of Culture and Professor of Philosophy at Cairo University, also delivered a lecture addressing the role of the Arabic language in shaping and preserving identity.
The celebration included poetic segments presented by a number of poets, glorifying the Arabic language and its aesthetics, alongside presentations on the art of Arabic calligraphy, in which a number of Arab calligraphers participated, reflecting the richness and the aesthetic and spiritual dimensions of this art.
At the conclusion of the celebration, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo felicitated a number of individuals working in the field of the Arabic language in appreciation of their contributions to its service and dissemination.
An Arabic calligraphy exhibition was also opened, in which the Embassy participated with some artistic works and historical correspondences between the Sultans of Oman and heads of state, written in Arabic calligraphy, as a vivid embodiment of its civilizational, historical, and aesthetic value.
