Oman commits to higher tax transparency standards, signs CRS Amendment in New Delhi

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 18th meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, held in New Delhi, Republic of India.

The Omani delegation was led by His Excellency Nasser bin Khamis Al-Jashmi, President of the Tax Authority.

The meeting focused on three strategic pillars: continuous monitoring and oversight of the implementation of international transparency standards, conducting peer reviews, and assessing the effectiveness of these standards among member states. It also reviewed capacity-building programs and technical assistance activities aimed at supporting member countries in developing their tax systems.

The forum witnessed broad participation, with over 400 representatives from 124 member countries, along with 12 observers, 7 invited entities from outside the membership, and representatives from civil society and academic institutions.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Oman’s Tax Authority signed the annex amending the Common Reporting Standard (CRS). This step reflects Oman’s commitment to enhancing system development, improving the effectiveness of automatic information exchange, and keeping pace with global developments — all in support of achieving the highest standards of tax transparency.
