Oman, Tatarstan explore means of enhancing religious, humanitarian cooperation

Kazan: Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, met on Sunday with Sheikh Kamil Samigullin, Mufti of the Republic of Tatarstan and Head of the Religious Board of Muslims of Tatarstan, as part of the Minister’s official visit to the Republic of Tatarstan.

The meeting addressed the prospects for cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Tatarstan in the fields of the Holy Qur’an and its studies, endowment (Waqf) and Zakat affairs, and the exchange of institutional expertise. They also discussed opportunities for developing scientific and research programmes that contribute to establishing the discourse of moderation and promoting the values of understanding and respect for diversity.

Furthermore, the two sides reviewed the potential for partnership in humanitarian and civilizational initiatives, foremost among them the Human Convergence Project (Al Mu’talif Al Insani) as an international platform for dedicating shared human values.

The Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, emphasized that the spiritual experience in the Republic of Tatarstan represents an inspiring model that combines the authenticity of Islamic heritage with the spirit of the age, pointing to the positive messages it carries in promoting balanced religious awareness.

For his part, the Mufti appreciated the Omani global role in establishing civil peace and spreading the culture of understanding and human communication.

This meeting embodies the two countries' keenness to expand the horizons of religious and humanitarian cooperation and develop pathways for partnership.

Separately, the international exhibition "Al Mu’talif Al Insani: The Sultanate of Oman's Model for Development and Peace" was inaugurated at the Al Marjani Mosque in the city of Kazan, one of the city's most ancient religious landmarks, in the presence of Sheikh Kamil Samigullin, Mufti of the Republic of Tatarstan, and a number of officials and dignitaries.

The exhibition presents a firm Omani vision for building understanding among people, based on the principle of "Human Convergence" as an inclusive framework that promotes mutual respect, facilitates constructive dialogue, and contributes to establishing civil peace and supporting sustainable development pathways.

This event represents a prominent diplomatic milestone that reflects the civilizational partnership between Oman and Tatarstan and affirms Oman's role as a trusted international partner in initiatives aimed at enhancing human interaction, unleashing communities' potential toward peace and development, and building bridges of cooperation between cultures and peoples.
