Salalah: A cultural evening titled Qanadeel Al Fikr “Lanterns of Intellect” was organised on Saturday at Al Dahariz Beach in the Wilayat of Salalah.
The event aimed to contribute to the cultural activities in Dhofar Governorate and revitalisation of the folk art and tales.
The event included discussion sessions on a book of Kuwaiti writer Saud Al Sanousi and another book of Tunisian writer Mofidah Mohammed along with the introduction of a collection of popular stories concerned with positive behaviour, development of imagination and the ability of expression.
The evening also included cultural contests for the public aimed to showcase the significance of reading and the role reading plays in development of the mental skills.
The evening also included a fine art exhibition.
Writer Noor Al Shahri, head of the narration committee at the Omani Society for Writers and Literati , Dhofar branch, said that the evening came within the efforts of the society for enhancement of the cultural awareness of the members of the society, to encourage the writers and readers and to acquaint the public with the contributions of the society and activities.
