Ministry starts receiving applications for Municipal Councils elections

Muscat: The Ministry of Interior announced that, with effect from Monday, it is receiving applications from citizens wishing to contest Municipal Councils elections for the Fourth Term.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of the Ministry’s participation in the 34th edition of the Global Technology Exhibition “COMEX 2025”, which kicked off on Monday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Interior Ministry explained that legally eligible citizens aged 21 years and above who wish to register their names (in the Electoral Register) could submit their applications in three ways: Via the Election app, the elections website (elections.om) or the AI-enhanced virtual character at the Ministry’s wing at the exposition.

For the applications to be processed properly, the applicants’ identity cards should be fitted beforehand with the PKI electronic authentication system, the Ministry noted.
