
Muscat: An Egyptian commercial airplane had to return to Muscat International Airport half an hour after it took off, early morning on Wednesday.
The pilot of Egypt Air Flight MS931 had to return to the landing strip after a person on board developed health issues, and was in immediate need of medication for the same.
The airplane took off to its destination after the patient was given medicine and taken off the flight.
Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) made the announcement earlier on Wednesday.
"Egypt Air Flight MS931, that departed from Muscat International Airport on March 6, 2018 at 5:15 early morning, was back to the airport after half an hour.
"The aircraft captain decided to return the aircraft to Muscat International Airport due to a health issue with one of the passengers. In order to provide necessary medication to the patient, the captain decided to fly back," an official OAMC statement said.
Moreover, OAMC warned that people spreading false information online would be dealt with strictly.
"Oman Airports Management Company denies any incorrect information shared on different media platforms. The company confirms that the aircraft departed immediately to its destination after offloading the sick passenger at Muscat International Airport.
"Herewith, Oman Airports Management Company will coordinate with the official parties to investigate the source of the incorrect information that has been shared and will take the necessary actions to pursue those who spread incorrect information," the statement added.
