Oman Concludes Five-Match Test Series Against Pakistan U20 Ahead of Major Continental Championships

Muscat: Hockey Oman successfully concluded a five-match international test series between the Oman National Men's Team and the Pakistan U20 National Team, as both teams continued their preparations for their respective major continental championships.

The Oman National Team is currently preparing for the 20th Asian Games – Aichi-Nagoya 2026, while the Pakistan U20 National Team toured Muscat as part of its preparations for the Men's Junior Asia Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in September in China.

The highly competitive series provided both teams with valuable international match experience and an excellent opportunity to assess their preparations against quality opposition.

Series Results:

Match 1: Pakistan U20 defeated Oman 3–0

Match 2: Pakistan U20 defeated Oman 3–1

Match 3: Pakistan U20 defeated Oman 4–2

Match 4: Oman 2–2 Pakistan U20 (Draw)

Match 5: Oman 3–3 Pakistan U20 (Draw)

Pakistan U20 won the series with three victories, while the remaining two matches ended in draws.

Despite the overall series result, the performances demonstrated the steady progress of the Oman National Team throughout the five matches. After facing defeats in the opening three encounters, the Omani side showed remarkable improvement in both attack and defence, earning two well-deserved draws against one of Asia's strongest junior teams.

The gradual improvement from match to match reflects the effectiveness of the team's preparation programme, the players' commitment, and the coaching staff's efforts to build a competitive squad ahead of the Asian Games.

Speaking after the series, Hockey Oman expressed its appreciation to the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Pakistan U20 National Team for accepting the invitation to tour Muscat. The series further strengthened the longstanding sporting relationship between Oman and Pakistan while providing both teams with valuable international exposure.
