Muscat: The Acting in cooperation with Athar Endowment Foundation, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs today launched the second phase of an initiative to provide medical treatment for the social segment of Zakat beneficiaries. The treatment will take place at private health establishments.
The registration of applications to the service will begin in early July and continue until mid-August 2026. The treatment of patients will start in September 2026.
The initiative stems from the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik who ordered that funds be allocated for the treatment of Zakat segment beneficiaries.
The initiative seeks to consolidate the spirit of sharing that is deeply rooted in the Omani society. The Royal directives lay emphasis on upholding the values of solidarity and donation, improving life quality, bridging the health gap and accelerating access to healthcare services for all segments of society.
The initiative includes surgical operations and diagnostic radiology services that will be provided in private hospitals across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. It will help speed up the process of treatment and minimize waiting lists at referral hospitals.
