Saudi Arabia downs drones, missile targeting key sites

Riyadh – The Ministry of Defense in Saudi Arabia announced today that its air defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed four drones in the Empty Quarter that were heading toward the Shaybah Oil Field.

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, Major General Turki Al‑Maliki, the official spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defence, said the drones were detected and neutralized before reaching their intended target.

Earlier today, the ministry also reported the interception and destruction of another drone east of the Al‑Jawf Region.

The ministry further announced that air defences intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched toward Prince Sultan Air Base. In addition, two drone attacks targeting areas north of Riyadh were thwarted after the drones were shot down.

Saudi air defense systems also intercepted and destroyed five additional drones that were heading toward multiple locations inside the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Defense affirmed that the armed forces remain fully prepared to confront any threats targeting the Kingdom’s vital facilities and civilian areas, stressing that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the security and stability of Saudi Arabia.
