Authorities crack down on drug-related crimes in Oman

Muscat: In a major security operation, the General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control, in cooperation with the South Al Batinah Governorate Police Command, arrested five individuals of Asian nationality linked to an international drug trafficking network.

Royal Oman Police said: “The suspects were apprehended for smuggling narcotics into the Sultanate of Oman, preparing them for re-export to other countries, and distributing part of the substances within the country. Legal procedures are currently underway against the individuals involved.”

In a separate case, the North Al Batinah Governorate Police Command apprehended a repeat offender with a criminal history of drug abuse for stealing air conditioning units from several homes in the Wilayat of Sohar. Authorities confirmed that legal action is being taken against the suspect.

These operations reflect the ongoing efforts of Oman’s security forces to combat drug-related crimes and theft, ensuring public safety and upholding the rule of law across the Sultanate.
