Muscat: The Omani–French Joint Business Council reviewed mutual investment opportunities and its future work plan to strengthen economic cooperation between the private sectors of the Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic, in the presence of H.E. Nabil Hajlaoui, French Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting was chaired by Jamil bin Ali Sultan, Head of the Omani side of the Council, and attended by Lionel Rabin, Head of the French side, along with a number of Council members. It was held at the headquarters of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI). The discussions also covered the Council’s strategic objectives, governance framework, resource requirements and target events related to the Council’s activities.
H.E. Nabil Hajlaoui, French Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, affirmed that the meeting of the Omani–French Business Council represents an important step in enhancing economic relations between the two friendly countries and provides an opportunity to identify new areas of cooperation between private-sector institutions.
“We are committed to supporting French companies interested in investing in the Omani market, while also encouraging Omani companies to expand into the French market and benefit from France’s advanced expertise and technologies. Through this council, we look forward to transforming economic relations into practical partnerships and tangible projects that benefit both countries and their peoples,” he added.
Jamil bin Ali Sultan, Head of the Omani side of the Council, said, “This meeting comes as a continuation of the fruitful cooperation between the Omani and French sides and represents an important opportunity to determine joint priorities for the coming phase. The discussions focused on setting clear strategic goals for the Council, strengthening governance mechanisms, and identifying economic events that will contribute to developing trade and investment relations between the two friendly countries.”
Meanwhile, Lionel Rabin, Head of the French side of the Council, noted that economic relations between the French Republic and the Sultanate of Oman have witnessed significant growth. He stated that joint efforts aim to further strengthen these relations through a clear action plan that defines common objectives and opens broader prospects for cooperation between business owners from both sides.
He added that the Omani market offers a promising environment for French companies, and that cooperation based on innovation and sustainability will help create long-term partnerships that benefit both countries.
